STATEMENT: HEAL’s Statement on HB433 Inland Port Amendments

The Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah maintains a neutral stance on HB433 Inland Port Amendments, which passed out of the Utah House on Friday, March 8, 2019. While we believe the bill’s renewable energy requirements are a step in the right direction and worked with the sponsor to include a diesel truck emission amendment, this amendment is encouraging but not strong enough. We are also watching for further amendments that will include air quality monitoring funding and we hear and understand community concerns with other portions of the bill.
