The start of the General Legislative Session starts next Tuesday, January 18th! This 45-day session is jam-packed with many bills hoping to become law. Our HEAL team will be working on navigating any clean air, clean energy, climate, and toxic waste-related bills. We are so excited for this session and would like to introduce you to our two new legislative interns, Natalie Lavenstein and Roberto Elguera.
Welcome, Roberto!
Roberto Elguera is a recent graduate from the University of Utah, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in Journalism. He has done journalism work highlighting social justice issues in Salt Lake City. Roberto also recently hosted and interviewed on K-Ute Radio, where he combined his passion for hip-hop music and journalism.
In Roberto’s free time, he loves to breakdance with his friends and compete in competitions in SLC and around the country. He also enjoys playing video games — Current favorites are Kingdom of Hearts II and Halo Infinite.
Roberto is excited to get up close and personal with issues concerning Utah’s air quality with HEAL and wants to see changes for the better health of Utahns.
Welcome, Natalie!
Natalie Lavenstein is a Senior at the University of Utah, where she will receive a double major in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Political Science. She is an Alaska-born Chicago-raised environmentalist who believes that all things are connected.
Since living in Utah, she has been involved with local environmental and activist groups. Last year, Natalie volunteered with HEAL as a citizen lobbyist and is now back for more!
In her free time, she loves to explore, from camping and finding beautiful places to take a swim to backpacking sections of the Pacific Crest Trail.
She is excited to join the HEAL team, where she will connect with citizen lobbyists and advocate for sound policies for people and the planet.
