Discussions of resuming nuclear weapons testing pose a potential threat to the safety and quality of life in our beautiful state. For this reason, HEAL Utah is working to prevent renewed nuclear testing.

Many Utahns are all-too-painfully acquainted with the deadly legacy that decades of nuclear weapons testing left our nation:

  • Toxic and radioactive waste from nuclear weapons manufacturing
  • Deadly fallout from atmospheric and below-ground testing
  • A lingering mistrust of the government resulting from their assertions that testing would be safe.

Because of our experience during earlier nuclear testing, Utah is in a unique position to influence the national dialogue on nuclear weapons testing. Our senior Senator, Bob Bennett also sits on the committee that determines whether the US will once again put its citizens at risk to nuclear testing.
