Nuclear UtahNuclear Weapons |
Michelle ThomasBound by the winds that carried radioactive fallout over her childhood home in St. George, Michelle Thomas has been working for decades to educate the public about the horrific health effects that nuclear fallout wreaked on those living downwind of the Nevada Test Site. Willing to share the heart-wrenching stories about the cancers, birth defects, and deaths that affected her playmates, family, and herself, Michelle has succeeded in helping politicians and the public understand the human costs of the nation’s nuclear weapons programs. A tireless and remarkable activist, Michelle has traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby Congress against funding new nuclear weapons; she has been interviewed for numerous documentaries about testing and downwinders; she has spoken at rallies; and, come election time, Michelle is always ready to hold politicians accountable for their views on nuclear weapons. Michelle’s sharp wit, her political savvy, and her gift with words makes her an incredible asset to the community of people and organizations working to prevent the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons and to ensure that the Nevada Test Site forever remains silent. Thank you for your dedication, passion, and humor, Michelle. |
