Dr. Jacobson is Director of the Atmosphere/Energy Program at Stanford University. His research focuses on understanding complex atmospheric processes to better solve problems such as global warming and urban air pollution. In 2009, he co-authored a cover story in Scientific American with Mark Delucchi on how wind, water and solar technologies can provide 100 percent of the world's energy, eliminating all fossil fuels and nuclear power. He was recently appointed to the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Advisory Committee by the U.S. Secretary of Energy.

He was also a featured speaker at the TED technology conference, where he argued that the world does not need new nuclear power, since renewable energy can supply the world's energy needs.
